OUR STORY

Born from a nightmare.
Built in Western Australia.

Established in Perth in 2024, Nightmare Narratives began with local actor Ethan Powell and a nightmare he couldn’t shake.

Raised on horror, Ethan developed an early fascination with the unsettling, the unexpected and the stories that stay with you long after the screen goes dark.

That fascination became the foundation of Nightmare Narratives: an independent production company bringing bold horror stories to life through Western Australian talent.

FROM NIGHTMARE TO SCREEN

The films that shaped
our journey.

THE FIRST FILM

Mirror’s End

It started with Mirror’s End, a short film inspired by Ethan’s own nightmare in which he couldn’t wake up.

Turning that experience into a film opened the door to something bigger.

THE FIRST FEATURE

Class of ’17

Next came Class of ’17, an award-winning feature following a war-hardened psychopath seeking revenge on his former schoolmates.

Alongside bringing the film to life, Ethan earned a Best Actor award at the New York International Film Awards.

A NEW COLLABORATION

The Hang Out

Since then, Ethan has joined forces with fellow local filmmaker Dale Fry.

Sharing a love of horror and a determination to create, the pair co-wrote The Hang Out, a comedy slasher that brings bloody mayhem face-to-face with unmistakably Australian culture.

MADE IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Building a stronger home
for horror in Perth.

Behind these films is a growing community of talented Western Australian cast and crew.

Their creativity, commitment and willingness to embrace ambitious independent filmmaking are at the heart of Nightmare Narratives.

Together, we’re helping build a stronger home for horror in Perth.

OUR NEXT CHAPTER

More stories deserve
to be seen.

Our ambitions extend beyond our own productions. As Nightmare Narratives grows, our goal is to invest in local independent films and help filmmakers who have a story to tell but lack the opportunity to bring it to the screen.

We began by bringing one nightmare to life. Now, we’re building towards a future where more Western Australian filmmakers can bring their own visions to the screen.

I believe everyone’s story should be told. Some never have the opportunity. I want to change that.
